Light and crispy, the cherry tomatoes are cooked and mixed with caramelized balsamic vinegar. Ideal as a starter, they can also be served with a fresh arugula salad.
The Cherry Tomato Tarte Tatin is a variation of the famous French dessert Tarte Tatin, an upside-down apple tart that is made of pastry baked over sliced apples caramelized with sugar. “La Tarte Tatin” was probably born at the end of the 19th century, in Sologne, France. In the hotel-restaurant of the Tatin sisters, one of the sisters simply forgot to prepare the dessert and rushed by throwing caramelized apples into a dish but also forgot the dough! So, the worldwide-acclaimed French dessert was born…accidentally!
The popularity of the Tarte Tatin started when Maxim’s, the famous restaurant in Paris decided to include the dessert on their menu!
