‘Tis The Asparagus Season! Here are some tips!

Rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, asparagus are low-calorie, cholesterol-free, fat free, low-sodium!  Not only they are a perfect healthy addition to any meal, but also a great source of proteins and fibers. How could we resist? You might mention, of course, that asparagus are making pee smell bad, but in fact, they are a natural diuretic helping to prevent urinary tract infections. So let’s cook asparagus, ’tis the season! Let me give you few tips:

Best way to break the Asparagus spears:
Bend each spear until the bottom snaps (it will break the tough part at the end of the spear)
Best way to blanch Asparagus:

Step 1: Bring salted water to boil in a saucepan (1 pinch of salt is enough)

Step 2: Cook the asparagus for no longer than 4 minutes in the boiling water

Step 3: Drain the asparagus and immediately immerse them into a bowl of icy water (just add some ice cubes to cold water)

Step 4: Drain and dry the asparagus with kitchen paper towel
